Dali Atomicus (1948) - ©Philippe Halsman Estate
Halsman comentou a propósito deste livro:
When you ask a person to jump, his attention is mostly directed toward the act of jumping and the mask falls so that the real person appears. (in Wikipedia)

Friday’s Fabulous Person:
Ricky Gervais
Gervais is a fervent supporter of animal rights, and has been a fan of wildlife documentaries since he was a child. He has spoken out against fox hunting and bullfighting, and wrote to Gordon Brown urging him to stop the use of black bear fur as caps for the Foot Guards.
Funnyman Ricky Gervais is celebrated a victory recently after a ban on using wild animals in circuses was passed in Britain.
The comedian and longtime animal rights activist has been outspoken in pressuring government officials into outlawing tigers, lions, elephants and other exotic creatures from the big top.
Gervais took to his Twitter.com page to share his delight, writing, “We won… Congrats Twonks (fans). A victory for compassion.”
Sir Paul McCartney also threw his support behind the legislation, while American stars including Pink, Demi Moore and Olivia Munn have helped spearhead a campaign to eliminate elephants from U.S. circuses.Gervais is also against animal testing. On July 30, 2012 he spoke on behalf of HSI, the Humane Society International/UK branch, slamming cosmetic companies for “Testing on Animals and Abandoning Ethics in Order to Sell Products in China.”
Gervais is speaking out in support of the Humane Society International’s “Be Cruelty-Free Campaign” to put an end to global cosmetics animal testing, especially within China, where the practice is often a requirement by law.
Like me, most people will be shocked to learn that testing cosmetics on animals is often still a legal requirement in China. By law, rabbits must have cosmetic chemicals dripped in their eyes or spread over their sensitive skin, causing sores and bleeding. It makes me really angry that this is still going on, and it makes me particularly angry that some previously cruelty-free companies are abandoning their principles and returning to animal testing in order to profit from the Chinese market.
Included in the companies Leaping Bunny.org publicly removed from its list of cruelty free companies were Yves Rocher, L’Occitane, Mary Kay and Caudalie for having operations in or exporting to China. However, Urban Decay, who was removed, then reinstated to the watchdog’s list, was praised for its decision to not sell products within China.
According to the press release, via HSI, good news may be on the horizon for China as it is looking into non-animal test methods thanks to a Europe-wide ban issued for 2013 on selling newly animal-tested cosmetics.
Ricky Gervais urges consumers to support the cause and sign the Be-Cruelty Free Pledge as well as use cruelty-free products.
